Highly variable ground conditions – from acid sulphate through to saline and heavily alkaline backfill and founding soils are readily accommodated with concrete mix design and reinforcement selection.
Geothermal and marine reinforcement applications are straightforward utilising Mateen-Bar fiberglass reinforcement supplied by Pultron Composites.
Other specialist applications include drilled rock anchor tiebacks, helix screw pile tiebacks, EPS backfill for specialist applications, block detailing for extensive settlement as part of full built preload operations, thru pile blocks allowing for pile installation after bridge abutment construction and specialist high strength shear connectors.
Thru Pile Blocks
Stone Strong’s Thru Pile block solutions are state of the art in terms of modern bridge construction offering substantial program and cost savings to both contractors and clients. Wide web and max web blocks offer the ability to cast bored piles up to 1500mm diameter through the internal block voids as well as options to top drive or bottom drive steel casings to 760mm OD and top drive steel H piles in excess of 400UC 232 sized sections.
Piles can be cast either integrally or independently of the pre built Stone Strong abutment, giving the design engineer a range of options in terms of lateral restraint design, seismic design considerations or control over abutment settlement and pile loadings.
Block reinforcement utilising a combination of steel fibre for strength and polypropylene fibre for concrete performance and fire resistance are available for specific engineering applications.
Mateen Bar Fiberglass Reinforcement
World class Mateen bar fiberglass reinforcement is available for specialist reinforcement requirements or for remote casting areas with problematic concrete quality/variable aggregate sources such as inaccessible areas of the Pacific or PNG. Mateen reinforcement can be supplied as containerized prefabricated panels and web reinforcement direct to site with minimal on site assembly required.
Stone Strong can offer specific reinforcement and concrete mix design for retaining walls and structure components in geothermal areas or similar.
Rock Anchor, Helix Screw Pile & Tie Back Blocks
Specialist drilled rock anchor, helix screw pile soil anchors, tie back reinforcement and specialist 12SF horizontal and 12SF vertical blocks are available for anchored retaining wall design, especially where narrow wall footprints are required against competent retained soils.
Tieback Retaining Walls
Tieback retaining wall design is based around using a buried tieback/buried dead man anchor design utilizing passive pullout forces. Paraloops are extended further back into retained soils and anchored around larger buried anchor blocks. This design approach allows for the use of relatively low friction angle backfill materials or lime / cement stabilised site soils as the retaining design is independent of MSE frictional backfill properties and
Shear Connectors and Dowell Locks
Specialist shear connectors, dowell locks and a range of bolting systems are available to provide for high inter block shear connection strengths, connection of precast elements or specialist structural solutions.
Reidbar and DYWIDAG pre-stressing steel and thread bar connectors are fully compatible with the Stone Strong system, particularly the utility block range.
